Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania make up the Baltic states. These three Baltic States were under Soviet over 300 years and only separated from the mega power around 25 years ago. Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia is UNESCO listed and the old town is filled with medieval houses and alleyways and is still protected by the remnants of the city wall, with many stories and legends to tell. Due to its location along the Baltic Sea, Tallinn is easily visited as a day trip from Helsinki. Beyond Tallinn, one can experience the pine tree forests, castles, small wooden towns and beach resorts.
May to September is the best time to visit Estonia though it can get busy during Jun and July.
