A Jungle Immersion

Your train journey continues through the Jungle Railway into the Merapoh station, where you will alight to experience the Taman Negara National Park. Formed approximately 130 million years ago, this is one of the world’s oldest tropical rainforests. The dense jungle of Taman Negara National Park is home to water buffaloes, macaques, tapirs, hornbills and the Malayan tigers. You may choose from a wide variety of excursions, such as:

• Explore the habitat of the critically endangered Malayan tigers (sightings not expected) and meet local activists looking to safeguard the future of the tigers
• Join a nature photographer and conservationist for a jungle immersion
• Dsicover the otherworldly allure of the magnificent caves of the region with an e-bicycle
• Sublime wellness experiences such as sunrise yoga, forest bathing and sound meditation

Thereafter, you will return to the train for a lively evening in the Piano Bar Car.

Cultural Penang

Your journey continues along the West Coast Line before alighting at Penang Island. You may choose from a wide variety of excursions, such as:

• Explore the George Town Old Quarter and its brilliant local artists on the backseat of a Vespa with a guide
• Discover the local Peranakan culinary scene, purchasing specialties spices and groceries followed by a cookery class
• Independent exploration with a twi-shaw, a driver and a map

Thereafter, you will rejoin the train at Butterworth for lunch and a leisure afternoon on board.

Ipoh’s Local Highlights

This afternoon, you may take the opportunity to stroll through Ipon, a former tin capital with its old-world charm and vibrant street arts. Alternatively, simply stay onboard the train for a relaxing afternoon or head to the Dior Spa (additional cost applies).
