After a hearty breakfast, set out to discover the rich history of Dayan Ancient Town, strolling its charming cobblestone streets and admiring the well-preserved traditional architecture.
Embark on a scenic drive towards Tacheng, taking in the breathtaking views as you pass the First Bend of the Yangtze River. Along the way, pause at Shi Gu Village, a historic spot offering a glimpse into local life.

Continue your journey along the lush valley of the Yangtze River, eventually arriving at Songtsam Lodge Tacheng in the afternoon. After check-in, take a moment to unwind as you soak up views of vibrant rice paddies, colorful flower fields, and the quaint, ancient village nestled nearby.
After breakfast, embark on a short 30-minute drive to Dharma Cave, an ancient site steeped in spiritual significance. In the afternoon, journey to Hada Village, where a local family will warmly welcome you into their courtyard. Here, you’ll have the chance to learn the traditional art of making soy milk and tofu, gaining hands-on experience in these time-honoured techniques and sharing stories with your hosts as you immerse yourself in village life.
After breakfast, set out for Yunnan Golden Monkey National Park and enjoy a scenic hike through lush forests as you venture into the natural habitat of the rare and enchanting Yunnan golden monkeys. Upon arriving in Meili, take time to explore the charming surrounding village, where the rhythms of local life unfold against a stunning mountainous backdrop. Visit a welcoming local family and immerse yourself in the art of Tibetan prayer flag printing. Learn about the symbolism and traditional techniques behind these vibrant flags, gaining insight into a meaningful aspect of Tibetan culture.
Wake up early to witness a breathtaking golden sunrise over Mt. Kawagebo, as the first light of day paints the snow-capped peaks in shades of pink and gold. This awe-inspiring moment offers a tranquil and unforgettable connection with the majestic mountain landscape, marking the start of a new day in this stunning region.
After breakfast, take part in a serene ceremony to pay homage to Mt. Kawagebo, using the prayer flags printed the day before. This meaningful ritual offers a deep connection to the spiritual essence of the mountain.
Next, visit the historic Feilaisi Temple, a revered site offering stunning views. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the scenic road around the Feilaisi viewing platform, where you’ll be treated to panoramic vistas of the majestic Meili Snow Mountain, soaking in the beauty of this sacred landscape.

After breakfast, depart for Shangri-La, stopping first to visit the tranquil Dongzhulin Monastery, perched above the scenic Jinsha River (the upper stretch of the Yangtze). Though less known, the monastery is a favorite among the local Tibetans, offering a peaceful retreat with stunning views.
Continue to the Moon Bay of the Jinsha River, located 15 km north of Benzilan. Here, the mountains to the south block the river, creating a natural hairpin bend that forms a captivating, picturesque curve in the water-truly a natural wonder.

In the afternoon, continue your journey to Shangri-La, making a stop at Napa Lake, a picturesque and peaceful haven. Continue on to Shangri-La, where you’ll check in to the welcoming Songtsam Linka/Lodge Shangri-La. Take a moment to settle in and enjoy the tranquil ambiance of this beautiful retreat, surrounded by the stunning landscapes of the Tibetan plateau.
After breakfast, embark on a visit to the Songzanlin Monastery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan Province. Known as the “Little Potala Palace,” this grand structure offers a stunning blend of Tibetan architecture and spiritual significance. Explore its sacred halls, vibrant prayer flags, and panoramic views, immersing yourself in the rich cultural and spiritual atmosphere of this iconic site.
Enjoy a relaxed and flavourful BBQ lunch at the hotel, where a selection of grilled delicacies awaits.
In the afternoon, head to the Shangri-La Linka Experiencing Center, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the intricate art of Thangka painting. Gain insight into the history and development of this traditional Tibetan art form, and under the guidance of an experienced teacher, create your own Thangka masterpiece, learning techniques passed down through generations
After a satisfying breakfast, enjoy a comfortable transfer to Diqing Shangri-La Airport for your onward journey, carrying with you memories of the breathtaking landscapes and serene retreats of the region.
