Finisterre and Muxia Day Tour
After being in Santiago, Pilgrims on The Way of Saint James decided to go beyond their efforts and continue the sacrifices they have endured by pushing on to Finisterra and Muxia. Included in this tour is a visit to Virxe da Barca Sanctuary, which has been venerated by pilgrims as a reward for reaching the ultimate end of their journey.
Alternatively, if you are energetic, we can instead organize the famous pilgrimage hiking tours.
Santiago de Compostela – Ferrol – Viveiro
As the new day beckons, our train crew extends a warm welcome to you at the Parador Reyes Católicos de Santiago de Compostela. We will explore the historical heart of the city and its highlights, including the impressive cathedral. A delectable lunch featuring traditional Galician cuisine awaits.
As the afternoon unfolds, we will board the Costa Express, departing from Ferrol to Mariña Lucense, where we will delve into the charms of Viveiro with some free time before savoring a delightful dinner in the restaurant car.
Viveiro – Ribadeo – Oviedo
Our journey continues into the charming town of Ribadeo. Enjoy a leisurely stroll followed by a lunch at one of its restaurants. Back at the train, our odyssey resumes towards the Asturias region, reaching the enchanting Luarca, often referred to as the White Villa on the Costa Verde. Thereafter, we continue to Oviedo. Here, the customary dinner and onboard entertainment await
Gijon – Oviedo – Llanes
Awakening to a hearty breakfast, our journey unfolds with a coach ride to Avilés, an ancient town celebrated among the most enchanting in Asturias, earning the distinction of a Historic-Artistic Complex in 1955.
Next, we will continue to Gijón, a coastal city with inviting alleys. You will have some free time to relish lunch in one its traditional eateries before continuing our sojourn to Oviedo, the esteemed capital of the Principality of Asturias which is renowned for its pre-Romanesque landmarks and the prestigious Princess of Asturias Awards.
As the day transitions into evening, we will embark on the Costa Express to Llanes.
Picos de Europa – Llanes – Cabezon de la Sal
Our journey commences through the soul-stirring landscapes of Picos de Europa, unveiling two enchanting gems: the Sanctuary of Covadonga, home to the revered Virgin of Covadonga, as well as the serene Lake Enol, going up into the Lakes of Covadonga.
After lunch, our path leads to the quaint village of Llanes. We will depart into the captivating realm of Cantabrian territories. Dinner awaits aboard, marking the prelude to a serene night in the embrace of Cabezón de la Sal.
Cabezon de la Sal -Santillana del Mar – Santander
Today’s journey unfolds with a visit to the medieval village of Santillana del Mar and the prehistoric Neo-cave of Altamira. Returning into the train, enjoy your lunch as we make our way into Santander. You will visit the city with some free time until the dinner time. Optionally, you can visit the Casino del Sardinero before returning to the train.
Santander – Bilbao
As our journey aboard the Costa Verde Express train nears its finale, we will relish a delightful breakfast while traversing the Basque landscapes en route to Bilbao, the Biscayan capital. Our exploration unfolds with a tour of the Bilbao city, followed by a lunch in one of its cherished traditional eateries. Around 4pm, we will return to the train to collect our belongings and bid a fond farewell to the crew.
Transfer: Bilbao – San Sebastian
You will be picked up and transferred to San Sebastian.
San Sebastian Walking Tour with Pintxo Experience (4h)
On this walking tour, discover why aristocrats and royal families chose Donostia / San Sebastian as a summer resort. Visit the Old Town of Parte Vieja where you see the Renaissance-Baroque church of Santa Maria and the Gothic Church of San Vicente. Head towards the Plaza de la Constitucion where, among its many balconies – numbered and painted white, revealing its origin as a bullring – stands the old neoclassical city hall. La Alameda del Boulevard leads into the so-called romantic city, and at the end of the Bay of La Concha, you will enjoy the unique view of Santa Clara Island from Monte Igueldo. Your tour includes a visit to 1 pintxo bar, a light snack experience unique to the Basque Country.
