9 DAYS UNVEILING BOTSWANA FROM THE DELTA TO THE SALT PAN
Savute, Okavango Delta, Makgadikgadi Salt Pans
Outdoor & Adventure, Off the Beaten, Nature & Wildlife
Upon your arrival at Maun International Airport, you will be met and assisted for your light aircraft transfer to Savute.
Nestled in a secluded corner of Chobe National Park, Savute is celebrated for its exceptional big game viewing amidst the marshlands of the Savute Channel. With an abundance of diverse wildlife and bird species, a safari in Savute offers a premium alternative to the more touristy areas of Chobe.
Enjoy a full day of game viewing with morning and afternoon game drives that take you across open floodplains and through dense riverine forests, allowing for close encounters with wildlife at the water’s edge. The area is particularly renowned for its population of bull elephants and unique interactions with resident predator species.
You will be met and transferred to the airstrip, where you will board your light aircraft to the Okavango Delta.
Upon landing, you will be met and transferred to your unique lodge that offers a blend of both water and land-based activities throughout the year. This setup provides a contrasting experience while maximising your wildlife viewing opportunities across different habitats.
Designated as a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site in 2014, the Okavango Delta serves as a vital wildlife sanctuary. Fed by floodwaters from distant Angola, this seasonal ecosystem is home to a rich diversity of species, including large herds of herbivores, apex predators, and a variety of birdlife.
Enjoy a full day of morning and afternoon activities in this extraordinary wilderness sanctuary. Covering 15,000 square kilometers of water channels, lagoons, and islands, the delta offers breathtaking landscapes. Where water levels permit, glide through the channels on a mokoro or enjoy powerboat excursions for an authentic and unobtrusive experience of this remarkable wetland paradise.
After your morning activity, you will be met and transferred by light aircraft to Makgadikgadi.
Stretching from the banks of the Boteti River through sweeping grasslands and scrub, Makgadikgadi Pans National Park sustains massive herds of zebra that migrate in their thousands at the end of winter in search of water. This migration is the second largest in Africa, following the wildebeest migration in Tanzania.
The harsh, arid landscape of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park is also home to unique and resilient species such as oryx and kudu. It offers a distinctive wildlife experience for seasoned safari-goers seeking to discover intriguing species beyond the more common sightings, all while soaking in the surreal ambiance of the salt pans.
Your scenic 30-minute flight will follow the course of the Boteti River, providing a breathtaking view of the annual zebra migration (May-Nov). Witness thousands of these majestic creatures as they journey to the river’s edge to quench their thirst. This bird’s-eye view offers a rare and captivating perspective on one of nature’s greatest migrations.
After your morning activity, you will be collected and transferred by light aircraft to Maun for your onward travel arrangements.
