Nestled in Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan is a little gem that is surrounded by China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The mountainous country has 80% of its land covered by the Tian Shan Mountain range (also known as Heavenly Mountain), which forms a natural barrier that preserves Kyrgyzstan’s beautiful alpines and meandering valleys from the outside world. Once part of the Silk Road, the country offers a mix of spectacular landscapes and an enriching nomadic culture passed down from generations over a thousand years.
Journey through this lovely country to experience the purest form of natural beauty. Partake in the set-up & sleep in a traditional Kyrgyz yurt, enjoy horse riding across breath-taking gorges, and expect interesting encounters of passing-by shepherds and herds along the way. Once you have trekked this land of untouched beauty, it takes no time to understand why it is deservedly regarded by some as the “Switzerland of Central Asia”.
The summer months of July and August are some of the warmest and busiest periods in Kyrgyzstan, but that is the time when the country has the most to offer; from festivals involving horse games, to hiking trails in the mountains which may be out of bounds at other times of the year. If you are skipping any high-altitude treks, travelling a little off-season (May – June, September – October) has its benefits, with fewer visitors and cooler weather.
