Itinerary
Arrival in Chiang Mai / Pai
Arriving in Chiang Mai International Airport, we transfer to your hotel in the charming Pai countryside. The rest of the day is free at leisure.
Pai
This morning, we embark on Pai Valley mountain biking. After picnic lunch at Pai Canyon, continue biking to the World War II Japanese bridge and start bamboo rafting across Pai River where remote villages reside. Thereafter, we transfer to Thapai Natural Hot Spring (not available on Aug-Sep). Finally, unwind with a gorgeous sunset afternoon tea on a private farmland.
Pai
Rise early for magical sunrise at Yun Lai Chinese Tea House (5.30-7am) with the mist engulfing the mountains, or alternatively join in the offering of morning alms to local monks (6-8am). Thereafter, we retreat to your room to rest. This afternoon, choose from one of the below two options:
Option A: Bamboo Rafting & Sceneries
Drive 1h to the famous Tham Lod Cave bamboo rafting experience, where you will float across the 1.5km cave river system. Close to the cave is the Jabo Village, inhabited by the colourful Black Lahu Tribe known for their traditional values, healing methods and harmonious relationship with nature. Enjoy a brief stop at Kiew Lom Viewpoint where the Himalayan mountain ranges can be seen stretching into Myanmar.
Option B: Village Immersion & Hike (not suitable for children under 7)
Depart 45m to Mae La Na, one of Mae Hong Son province’s most picturesque valleys, for a 30-minute downhill hike from Baan Ja Bo (Lahu) to Baan Mae La Na (San) village communities, with privilege to get invited into local tribe homes. You will also visit the sacred Coffin Cave, the rotational rice farm, the Coral Cave blessed with views of limestone cliffs, deciduous forest and herbal plantations. (This is a community-based tourism project to raise funds to conserve natural resources and create income for locals.)
Pai / Mon Cham
Bidding farewell to Pai, we stop at Rao Dok Lom Nhao flower hill with a view of rice terrace and visit Patara Elephant Farm (1-6.30pm; joined-in basis) to learn about and care for local elephants. Participate in health inspection, feeding, bathing and walking with elephants. This activity does not include elephant riding for ethical purposes.
Mon Cham / Departure from Chiang Mai
The day is free at leisure until your transfer to Chiang Mai airport for your flight home. You may want to try your hotel’s therapeutic onsen or enjoy other hotel facilities.
