Located in East Africa straddling the equator, Uganda is a landlocked country with teeming wildlife, tranquil lakes, winding rivers, misty thick jungle, mountains, and friendly locals. Winston Churchill called Uganda “Pearl of Africa” and it is not difficult to see why. Travellers flock to Uganda for the once in a lifetime encounter with the mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park and the animated chimpanzees at Kibale National Park going about with their daily lives is amusing to watch.
Outside of these two major drawcards, Uganda’s remote and unspoilt parks is home to the Big 5 (lions, elephants, buffalos, rhinos and leopards) and over a thousand species of birds, making it the Big 7 destination minus the crowd from her neighbours, Kenya and Tanzania.
The best time to visit Uganda is during the dry season, when it is a more comfortable time for safaris, is from June to August and December to February.
